Automotive Electrical Parts

The engine parts of a car are a modern wonder. Whether inside a traditional, electric or hybrid vehicle, each of its elements allows the confluence of various types of energy and contributes to a mechanical result, thus allowing the car to move from one point to another.

It is clear that the engine is the primary system. However, one of the fundamental elements for the correct functioning of the vehicle is the electrical system and its parts.

If you want to become an excellent technician in automotive electrics, it is essential that you know and increases your knowledge about the main automotive electrical parts. In this way, you can effectively diagnose faults, as well as perform first quality maintenance. In this way, you will be increasing your clientele full of satisfied customers, in favor of your business.

Main Automotive Electrical Parts

Battery

This is an accumulator composed of cells, which generates a chemical reaction that produces electricity. They usually come in 12 or 24 V presentations and on several amperages. Today there are more efficient systems such as gel batteries. Their primary function is to provide the initial energy for the engine to start. It also supplies electricity to the accessories in case the engine is not running.

Starter Engine

This is an auxiliary electric motor powered by direct current from the battery. It has small magnets and is used to facilitate the ignition of the internal combustion engine. Its temporary operation facilitates the explosions of the combustion chamber inside the cylinders.

Alternator

Once the engine is running, the vehicle's electricity depends on this device. It consists of a generator that transforms the kinetic energy from the motor into DC. This electricity is necessary for the operation of the engine, as it feeds the spark plug system. It also powers all the accessories that need DC inside the vehicle: from the lights to the ABS or the AirBag.

Spark Plugs

The internal combustion engine operates by an interaction between fuel and electricity, which provides the impulse to the pistons. These parts provide the electric spark necessary for this event to occur.

Central Computer

This is a typical electronic device in modern vehicles. Its function is to direct and control the different features of the engine and other vehicle components, such as transmission and brakes. Besides, it is responsible for other minor devices. Finally, it can interpret information from sensors placed in different parts of the vehicle and generate a warning if necessary.

Wiring

As with other systems, cables transmit DC from one side of the vehicle to the other, as needed. In the case of cars, there are different types and categories, according to their function.

Connectors

Although it may seem like a minor part, many of the electrical failures of the cars derive from malfunctions in these parts. These devices link the systems together to transmit the energy that comes from the cables.
